Despite four straight days of snow in the “Sunny Okanagan” the CCFCC Western Conference held February 3 -4 , 2017 was a success.
We as a branch decided to host the Conference at the same time as the annual Canadian Culinary Championships, also known as Gold Medal Plates, where many CCFCC Chefs have competed. Presidents attended the Mystery Wine event on the Friday night, where they tasted what the competing chefs had to offer. On Saturday morning, as the snow continued to fall, we headed over to Okanagan College where the Black Box Competition was in full swing. After a short visit, we then proceeded to have our always highly anticipated meeting. The President’s Dinner, hosted at the beautiful Sandhill Winery, included 5 young Chefs, 5 Wineries and a lot of laughter, in their beautiful barrel room. A quick tour of Okanagan cuisine and wine, as we like to describe the evening. And if everyone wasn’t already stuffed from the dinner, on to Kitchen Confidential, the After Party brought to you by GFS and the Okanagan Chefs Association (OCA). This casual invitation only event created a relaxed food filled atmosphere for the GMP competing chefs finally able to kickback after their busy weekend. We thank all branches who took time out of their lives to attend the conference and we hope you all had a great time.
